Why Nancy?
My Philosophy
I believe that every family has the right to a positive and empowering birth experience.
Birth works best when it is allowed to unfold without interference. A great midwife does little and trusts the process when things are going well. She is that quiet presence in the room that helps everyone feel safe, but also knows when to step in when intervention is needed. I believe that mothers know their bodies and their babies.
Home birth relies on a deep sense of trust that is the result of the work that we do together in advance to create an intimate caring relationship and open communication.
My journey to midwifery began over 30 years ago with the birth of my first child. At that time I didn’t know anyone who had used a midwife or given birth at home. My own choice to find a midwife resulted in an incredibly powerful and transformative experience. Most of my friends didn’t have that experience and I was inspired to find out more about the midwifery model of care and physiological birth.I’ve spent the last three decades helping empower women and support them on this miraculous journey.
When my children were younger, I spent almost 20 years working as a doula and supported hundreds of women. I am a prenatal yoga teacher and have been holding support groups for new families for over fifteen years.
